Laid out in catalog form, with decently in-depth enteries on all the art items/architecture included but without much in the way of longform criticism on Byzantine art in general, this is a very welcome addition to the literature in the sense it presents a good overview of specific art but it does lack a deep critical approach to a complex and oft-misundertood period of art and architecture.
