  1. A solid British crime novel. It’s biggest strength is the unique nature of each character. Flawed and human, none of the characters are boilerplate (except one glaring except, which drove me bananas). The story is simple allowing the relationships of the character to grow and change. Very confidently written.

  2. I liked this book. I went to college in Hull, and nearly all of this book takes place in areas of Hull where I lived or spent alot of time. This added something to the story for me I guess, but I think the author got the essence of this city and it’s neighbourhoods spot on.
