  1. I’ve been referencing and linking to Laura Candler’s awesome website for YEARS. Laura taught for 29 years in grades 4-6, so I consider her an expert on all things upper elementary. Many Reading Workshop books (like my beloved The Daily Five) are geared more toward the primary grades; Power Reading Workshop is for grades 2-6. That’s the first thing that sets this book apart. What does Reading Workshop look like when children are transitioning from learning to read to reading to learn? Laura Candl

  2. This book was suggested to me by a fellow reading teacher, and I was hooked from page 1! In this book, Laura Candler gives practical, step-by-step instructions on how to implement “power reading workshops.” As a reading intervention teacher, my goal is to get my students reading at grade level. The problem I have faced is that most of my students hate to read – and are very vocal about it! The power reading workshop program provides the framework that these students need to help them pick books

  3. This book has everything you need to implement Reading Workshop in a logical, sequential format. I should have had this one a year ago – it would have saved me a lot of time! The lessons and forms included will work well for my fourth grade, but I think it would work well with other grades as well.
